Are you ready for Christmas? Sophie is! You might remember this little sweetheart from last year, but she’s only gotten cuter!
My favorite parts of the day? How excited she was to do her monkey dance, and when we had to interrupt pictures for a while because she wanted to hold my hand.

It’s that time of year! Everybody wants to get their family pictures for the Christmas cards. And it’s not the whole family without the dog, right? Check out Rebekah, Nate, and Bryar at Devou Park!

Ok, one more preview, then it’s back to some serious editing! Rebekah, Nate, and Bryar needed some photos for their upcoming Christmas card. … You know who’s going to eventually steal this show, right?

How’s this for too-stinkin’-cute? Yep. Parker came over for his own pre-Santa photoshoot today. Can’t wait to show off more of the results!

After Saturday’s embarrassing loss to Presbyterian, UC needed a little bounceback. That’s what they got last night when they faced off against Northwestern State (Northwest of which state? Don’t ask me.) They struggled at the get-go, but eventually managed to finish with the solid 28-point lead. They didn’t get away without a few bumps and bruises, though. Dion Dixon in particular took some hard shots during the game. It all makes for good photos though… As always, more on BearcatLair.com!

I think the best thing about basketball has to be the faces these guys make. I won’t even get into the crazy faces you catch the players making during the games. It’s a long season. Plenty of time for all that. Just check out coach Cronin here. Posing for GQ (or perhaps Time’s Man of the Year), making it clear what he thinks of a ref’s call, then making a snide little aside all Thurston Howell III-like.

Remember this little guy? You know, the one who came out with this full head of hair? Well, he’s a little bit older, but still every bit as cute! And now he’s in the business of making Christmas cards. We started with a sleigh ride through the back yard and finished with a seasonal snack (Christmas lights are edible, right?).
The thing about Charley, though, is that he is very stoic. Always has been, in my experience. His parents claim that he smiles all the time, but whenever I’m around, he’s quite the detached little gentleman. Doesn’t cry, doesn’t fuss. Also doesn’t smile. Now, he absolutely loves it when his dad throws him playfully in the air, but as soon as he’s back safely in dad’s arms, it’s back to that same old stoneface.
So it took a bit of work to get these photos. But well worth it. Charley’s so cute he’s always a treat to work with. Can’t wait til the next time!

I can’t get over how fast this guy is growing up! But here he is, 1 year old! I believe the last time we saw him was about the 6 month mark. Now he’s walking, eating flowers, sitting next to pumpkins … basically doing all the things big kids do. Next on his to-do list? Becoming a big brother! Congrats Lindsay and Ryan!

I just love it when one of my previous bridesmaids becomes the bride! You might remember Jenna from Tiffany and Jeremy’s wedding. Well, now it’s her turn! She and Brandon invited me down to their beautiful and rustic property in Kentucky for an engagement session, and it couldn’t have gone better. The property was gorgeous, with rolling hills, a barn, a creek, even the quintessential tree swing. What more could a photographer ask for?! Well, I suppose it didn’t hurt that I had a fun and lovely couple to work with. Not to mention a pretty handsome dog. Heck, even the weather cooperated (after two or three reschedules … who’s counting?). I hope you love the results as much as I do!

This isn’t the usual engagement session for this blog. This is actually one of those once-in-a-lifetime kind of things. Why, you ask? Because it’s my engagement!
Yep, that’s right. I popped the question. And I made sure to have the camera around when I did it.
Now my fiancee usually HATES to have her picture taken. Crazy, right? I mean, she is going to marry a photographer. So, when we headed out to a corn maze, she only groaned in annoyance when I insisted on bringing the camera with. But imagine my surprise as we were walking along and she plucked an ear of corn, announcing that I would be permitted to take her picture with this prized bit of grain.
So, I took her picture, then promptly turned my back on her so I could “preview the picture and change some settings.” In reality, I was pulling the ring out of my pocket. When I turned back around to let her know I’d found something to make the picture look better, her jaw literally dropped. Like in a cartoon. It was awesome! I dropped to a knee, and the rest is history. Let the wedding planning commence! Anyone know a good photographer?

This was not a good day for me as a Cincinnati Bearcats fan. First, the football team lost at Rutgers. Got kind of embarrassed, really. That trip to Miami in January isn’t looking so good anymore…
Then I head over to Fifth Third Arena to watch the basketball team beat up on some out-of-conference no names from Presbyterian College. Mission: fail.
The Cats got off to a pretty flat start, trailing by several points in the early stages of the game. In fact, neither team scored a bucket for the first three minutes. That’s kind of an eternity in basketball. Anyway, they kicked it into gear and had the lead in hand by halftime. Then some kid named Mutakabbir came out of nowhere to score nearly half his team’s offense (25 points), and seal the deal with the go-ahead bucket with 7 seconds on the clock. UC failed to respond as Cashmere Wright missed the buzzer beater, leaving the final at 56-54.
So, yeah, not a good day to be a UC fan. Still, even pathetic losses can get you good pictures. Let’s just pretend this was a win and we’re 3-0!

So, this post is a little tainted by today’s loss to Presbyterian. (Pics of that coming soon.) But I thought I’d throw this up here as a test of the new blog, the layout, etc…
I honestly don’t remember too much from this game. Another significantly underqualified out-of-conference opponent for UC to warm up on before starting Big East play. This one went pretty much as the script was written. Get out to an early lead, then play just hard enough the rest of the game to wrap up the win. If you want to know more details, head over to BearcatLair and read some quality journalism. I’ll try to be a little more useful in my future posts, but really, it’s just about the pictures.![]()
So what do you think of the new blog? Personally, I think it’s a huge upgrade. And hopefully, it will encourage me to update more often. It doesn’t do a whole lot of good, me taking all these pictures, and then just keeping them to myself. So stay tuned, lots of big changes on the way!
